Treatment Philosophy

Treatment philosophy:

Dr. Aronson believes in an individualized integrative approach that combines various psychotherapeutic strategies with psychopharmacology.  Patients are seen from twice/week to twice/year depending on their problems. Some patients are seen purely for psychotherapy, others solely for med management, though the majority receive a combination of medication with psychoanalytic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive psychotherapy, mindfulness meditation, and/or systems approaches, as needed.  Sessions are divided into 15, 30 and 45 minute time slots.  Dr. Aronson takes pride in being one of the psychiatric dinosaurs still doing psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy.

The office does not have and never will have an electronic health record system, which violates the spirit of privacy and confidentiality necessary for psychiatric treatment.  Prescriptions are eprescribed as per NYS law, and insurance claims can be electronically filed, as per HIPAA regulations.  Dr. Aronson does not participate in any insurance plans; however, the office staff will help you file for out-of-network benefits, and in the case of Medicare for the 80% reimbursement as a nonparticipating provider.
